Regulus Therapeutics Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company leading the discovery and development of innovative new medicines based on microRNAs. Regulus is advancing microRNA therapeutics in several areas including hepatitis C infection, cardiovascular disease, fibrosis, oncology, immuno-inflammatory diseases, and metabolic diseases. Regulus was established in September of 2007 by Alnylam Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq:ALNY) and Isis Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq:ISIS) and benefits substantially from their RNA therapeutic drug expertise. In April 2008, Regulus formed an alliance with GlaxoSmithKline to explore microRNA therapeutics for immuno-inflammatory diseases. In February 2010, GSK and Regulus Therapeutics announced a new collaboration to develop and commercialize microRNA therapeutics targeting microRNA-122 for the treatment of Hepatitis C Infection. In June 2010, sanofi-aventis and Regulus Therapeutics entered into the largest strategic alliance to-date on microRNA therapeutics.

Regulus is located in Torrey Pines, California and has a seasoned executive team experienced in corporate management, business, science, drug discovery and development. Regulus' scientific advisory board consists of world-class scientists and some of the foremost authorities in the field of microRNA research.

Description

The successful candidate will have considerable expertise in modern and classical experimental models in immunology and will be expected to spend the majority of his/her time working in the lab.  He/she will also have broad knowledge and expertise in fundamental immune mechanisms as well as experience with animal models in immunology.  He/she will be working closely with a small team of scientists involved in cutting-edge research to develop microRNA therapeutics. He/she must be self-motivated, and enjoy working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative and scientifically stimulating environment.

Requirements

  • MS/Ph.D. in Biology or related discipline
  • A minimum of 5-10 years hands-on experience with modern and classical experimental models in immunology – MS (minimum 10 yrs experience) Ph.D. (minimum of 5 years experience)
  • Broad knowledge and expertise in fundamental immune mechanisms
  • Attention to detail, proficient reasoning skills in experimental design, data analysis, statistical methods and interpretation
  • Independence, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work in a team environment are essential
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • An ability to be productive and successful in an intense work environment
